Schistosomiasis Epidemiology

Project Overview: The project aims to understand the drivers of schistosomiasis transmission in Rwanda and to generate evidence that will help accelerate its elimination as a public health problem.

Pre-School Children Study

We have demonstrated that pre-school children, who are currently excluded from mass deworming campaigns, carry significant levels of schistosomiasis, acquired through passive exposure by parents and siblings while bathing them in open water sources.

Snail Intermediate Host Mapping
